Synopsis-
Master and Commander is the first in the Aubrey-Maturin series featuring Jack Aubrey and the naval surgeon Stephen Maturin, set in the napoleonic wars. It is a historical novel by Patrick O'Brian, first published in 1969 in the US and 1970 in UK. Ship encounters in this novel draw on the naval feats of Lord Cochran.

Creative writing Task 3-
My name is Harrison Woods; I am a new member of the crew for the British Navy. I’ve tried to get into the British Navy for a while now however they have never chose me until now. I am a bit of a novice when it comes to the ocean and doing knots however I really want to join the fight for my country. I aboard this ship, which is called the HMS Sophie it looks like a very new ship as it, have a new paint job. I was assigned to my quarter of the ship, I was given a mop and some clothes and they told me to start sweeping.
I was quite shocked that I was given this job the second I walked on board the ship. I did not complain because I had just got on the ship and have no clue how it works around here. The captain stares down at me from the bridge while I sweep the main floors of the ship, I put more of effort into it as soon as he laid eyes on me hoping he would consider me of doing something more important other then being a cleaner.
We are ready to disembark, after locking down the hatches; we set sail into Caribbean oceans hoping to find what we need. As we sail into the Mediterranean we were assigned to our stations, which we would stay at and wait for the captains command. We sailed into a rough storm, well that’s what I thought it felt like everyone around me seemed to like fine about it. I hold on tightly along the panes of wood on the ship hoping I don’t fall.
The storm has passed now and we did not lose anything amongst the ship it was clean as a whistle however it was a bit flooded. We all started to clean the main deck with our mops and our buckets. We cleaned the main deck and returned back to our stations.
As we were sailing, a new recruit spotted out a ship in the distance, however we could not see it, we prepared our stations as we thought we were going into to battle. We did at least 5 minutes of waiting and preparing for this so called ship. We started to wonder if this ship was ever to come…
We suddenly heard an explosion coming from the mists; we had no clue what it was. Captain Jack was yelling out to the crew saying, “hit the deck”! We all crouched down as fast as we could, there were cannon balls speeding towards us! I was blown off the ship by the force of the explosion. The next thing I knew I had hit the cold water. For what seemed like days I drifted aimlessly until I finally spotted land and had just enough energy to swim to shore.
I am at the island now it is dark I cannot see anything other then hearing the sound of waves and the glare of the moon. I am too exhausted to worry about my surrounding s and I am slowly drifting to sleep.
I wake up at the sound of the waves and the bright glare of the sun. I start to scout the island for materials so I can build a shelter; my first priority was to find other forms of life on this island. I scouted the island for about a one-hour I found some logs and carried them trying to find a good camping spot. I find a lush patch of green grass were my camping spot would be ideal.
I start making a fireplace in the middle of my spot so I can cook food that I can find. I start searching for stones so I can make a weapon of some sort. I made a spear out of some sticks and rocks that I scavenged through the forest, I start hunting for animals that I could eat.
I found something in the distance it was a group of rabbits approaching me; I slowly move towards them and strike one of them with my spear. I bring the rabbit’s corpse back to the fire and cook one of them. While the rabbit was cooking I start to forage for berries, sticks, leaves and furs so I can create a shelter so I can sleep in. I scavenge around 40 sticks and 4 handfuls of leaves into my pants and bring it back the site. I construct a tent so I have shelter for the night.
It’s the next morning and I feel better then ever thanks to a good meal, I wake up and see that it is shining and it looks like it is going to be a wonderful day. I did the same thing that I did yesterday and start collecting more materials.
I make an axe using some branches and a large stone I found. I slowly chop away at some of the nearby trees so I can create more of a set up for my house. I destroy most of the forest as I gather more wood for the production of my house. The house is slow starting to take shape now, I move my tent and all my supplies into the house, that is pretty much 4 log walls.
I scout out the area before I go to sleep in my new log cabin to make sure I am safe. I spot forms of life out in the distance, there were 4 of them walking around with a bag with a body in it. I was first confused so I silently walked closer to see what was happening they lay down and started to eat the corpse, I immediately run back to my home.
I try to sleep during the night however I cannot something is telling me not to sleep because of what I have seen, I get out of my tent inside my wooden fortress and notice some human like sounds. I have no clue what it is so I grab my spear and some rocks for a distraction if it is an animal. I throw a rock around 200 meters away from my fortress and listened to see if they were any footsteps. I heard multiple footsteps walking towards the sound of the rock; I slowly open the door and see what was there…
It was a group of tribesmen, they all had blades they were covered in blood. I slowly close the door and grab tightly onto my spear as I was about to die and I remembered about of all the good times. They start to talk to each other now, in a language I have never heard before; I believe they seemed angry as they were shouting at each other. They start yelling and they charge at my house with their swords and start slowly chopping at my walls and they get through.
There I was defenseless, against these cannibals……….
Scarlet Pimpenel- taste,smell,hear,feel, see
As I arrived at the castle gates I unexpectedly walked into the smell of a thick smell of blood reeking through the air. It was a terrible smell however it was not worse then corpses being stacked into coffins and piling all over the ground.I heard loud cheers of relief and happiness as there were people slowly being beheaded by a guillotine. Whilst i was waiting in line to executed i tasted something through the air it was a juicy rack of meat i tried to only think about the good things happening around me as i knew i was next up to the chopping block. As i was resting my head along the bottom of the guillotine i saw everyone looking at me as i was about to be executed it was quite a view looking at everyone and everything. I felt so much disgust on what i have been doing as they were shouting my name waiting for me to die.
